BLUE PETITION – MAXIMUM UNITS FOR GRADUATION

Purpose: To exceed the maximum unit limit indicated near the end of your Degree Audit.

Request: State the number of units by which you will be exceeding your unit max and the new total. For example, “to exceed unit max by three units and graduate with a total of 219 units.”

Reason: If you are planning to graduate by the summer following your fourth year, or your 2nd year for transfer students, you can simply state “graduating in four years (or two years).”

If you will be going into your 5th year, or threerd year for transfer students, you will need to explain why you need additional units. Your explanation should include your academic reasoning for additional time and units.

MAXIMUM UNITS FOR GRADUATION

A maximum of 216 units is permitted for all students, regardless of the number of majors or minors completed. Students with advanced placement (AP) or international baccalaureate credit (IB) may exceed the unit maximum by the amount of that credit.

Students wishing to exceed their unit maximum must petition to do so radiator . Approval is not guaranteed. Students exceeding their unit maximum without College approval will be in violation of university regulation and will make themselves ineligible for a degree from UCLA.

A select number of other courses can also be taken which do not count toward the unit maximum. These courses, if taken in Winter 2004 or thereafter, include 19, 88S, 89, 89HC, M97X, 98X, 98XA, 98XB, 99, HC 101A-E, 189, 189HC, 190, 193 and 194, Education 1SL and 10SL, MATH 71SL and 72SL. These units will still count toward the minimum 180 units required for graduation.

Attach: Please fill out a degree planner (available online or from your UCLA College advising unit) and have it signed by your departmental advisor. iranradyator.ir  Then calculate the total number of units you are requesting and indicate that number on your petition, as stated above.
